Patrick Flynn, Principal and Co-Founder

Patrick Flynn is managing Principal for Asset Ventures.  A successful entrepreneur with more than 30 years of senior executive experience. Before founding Assabet Ventures, he provided leadership to numerous businesses and served in a variety of management roles, including CEO, COO and CFO.

In 2009, Flynn retired from a 10-year career at Health Dialog, where he built the business from an early-stage healthcare services organization to one of the world’s leading providers of healthcare analytics, services and decision support. Under his guidance, Health Dialog became a dominant player in the care management services market in the United States. Patrick also helped execute a successful transaction to sell Health Dialog to BUPA, an international insurance company based in the UK, in 2007 and continued to serve as chief executive.

Prior to Health Dialog, Patrick served as CEO of Phios Corporation, a provider of process and knowledge management tools and consulting services. He was also a co-founder of Symmetrix, a management consulting firm specializing in healthcare and financial services, where he served as CFO, COO and CEO. Symmetrix was purchased by Knowledge Universe in 1997. His career began with Bank of America, where he spent several years in various positions supporting and managing both internal IT operations and international banking functions.

Patrick received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and sits on a handful of selected boards supporting the educational and healthcare sectors.


Sashi Desikan, Partner

Sashi Desikan, is a Partner at Assabet Ventures,  a seasoned Software executive, with over 20 years experience in the Enterprise Technology space. He has held various leadership positions including:

SVP, Data Management at Welltok, where he was responsible for Product Management, Architecture and Engineering functions for ADAPT, the Big Data and Machine Learning platform that powers the Welltok Consumer Health Optimization solution. This has enabled Welltok to accelerate the adoption of their capabilities in the Healthplan and Large Employer market and establishing them as the leader in the Health & Wellness technology space.

Global Executive, Pega Cloud at Pegasystems, where he designed and built the BPM Platform-as-a-Service that is used by Fortune 500/Global 1000 organizations to support their business critical functions such as CRM and Sales Force Automation applications. He was responsible for growing this business from concept to commercial success with over 75 clients & $70M in annual revenues in 5 years.

Global Head, Partner Development at Pegasystems, where he established the enablement methodology and team to help build the developer ecosystem for Pega BPM. The ecosystem has grown from <200 developers in 2007 to > 25,000 in 2017 based on those efforts.

He also spent 9 years at Truven Health Analytics and held various roles including managing the Payer suite of Products (Population Health analytics, Fraud & Abuse detection) and building the Pharma business (Drug efficacy, Market Segment analytics) leveraging publicly available and privately sourced data in the Healthcare industry.


Dr. Simon Trussler, Senior Advisor

Simon Trussler has nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare strategy consulting and operational leadership. Before joining Assabet Ventures as a partner, he served as a senior vice president at Health Dialog, where he led the firm’s start-up and business development activities in Spain and Australia.

Prior to Health Dialog, Simon was a partner with Boston Consulting Group (BCG). As part of the strategy consulting practice, he completed more than 80 assignments throughout western Europe and established the company’s Nordic region offices. Simon also created and led BCG’s global knowledge management and research functions, with responsibility for systems development and integration, knowledge capture and global research operations.

Simon graduated from Cambridge University in England with double First Class honors, and completed a Ph.D. on econometric analysis of tax impacts in the United States, based on his research at Cambridge, Princeton University and the Urban Institute in Washington D.C.


Nita Stella, Consultant

Nita Stella ‘s primary focus is product strategy and market analytics.  She brings over 20 years of experience as a product development and health care strategy executive.

Prior to joining AssabetVentures, LLC, Nita was Senior Vice President for Product Development at ActiveHealth Management/Aetna.  At ActiveHealth Nita led the development and management of all the online initiatives including the patient portal (PHR) rollout for ActiveHealth and Aetna.  Her areas of responsibility included new program development and prioritization, incentive management strategy, strategic planning, patient engagement initiatives, and strategic sales support as subject matter expert on various ActiveHealth programs.

Prior to joining ActiveHealth Nita was Vice President of Consumer Strategy at Caremark where she lead a cross functional strategic initiative to respond and implement the Caremark MMA strategy.  Prior to that role Nita was AVP of Product Management at Consumer Health Interactive a health website development company.  At CHI, Nita was responsible for all the product strategy, roadmap development and feature roll out for each the website properties managed by CHI.

Nita has also held senior positions at NYU Medical Center, Ernst and Young Health Care Consulting and Kaiser Permanente.

Stella holds a Master’s Degree of Industrial Engineering from the University of Washington where she did her thesis on “Process Improvement and Simulation Modeling of an Emergency Room and Walk in Clinic.”


Chris Coloian, Principal and Co-Founder

Chris Coloian is a co-founder and principal at Assabet Ventures, he currently is working at Verscend Technologies as the SVP of Revenue and Growth.  As a healthcare veteran with more than 25 years of industry experience, he has held senior-level leadership positions across a variety of market segments, including healthcare services, health insurance operations and management consulting, and has a strong background in general management, business development, strategic planning, M&A, operations and product development.

Chris co-founded Predilytics with Mr. Flynn and served as the companies CEO and President until its successful sale to Welltok.   At Welltok, Chris successfully integrated Predilytics into the company.  The core of Predilytics technology platform serves as the companies data and analytic platform for consumer engagement.    While at Welltok, Chris served on the companies executive leadership team as the Chief Solutions Officer responsible for enterprise Growth, Solutions Group, Commercialization and Product Marketing.

Chris served as senior vice president of health solutions for Health Dialog, a provider of healthcare analytics and decision support. In this role, he was responsible for the general management of the international business and product management department. Prior to that, he served as vice president of CIGNA Healthcare, one of the country’s largest health insurers, where he oversaw the company’s chronic care management programs and increased annual sales volume from $50 million to $250 million over five years. During his tenure at CIGNA, he also led the health advocacy and health services product management and development and successfully launched more than 20 products.  Health Services included Health Advocacy, Behavioral Health and Network, Case Management, Disease Management, Utilization Management and Wellness with over $1 B in annual revenue.

Before joining CIGNA, Chris served as vice president of corporate development for Matria Healthcare, a leading chronic care management and medical device manufacturing company. At Matria, he was responsible for the company’s entrance into the chronic care management space and the acquisition of Gainor Medical.

Chris is the former chair of the Care Continuum Alliance Board of Directors, the leading population health management industry association. He also sits on the board of directors of Regents Surgical, serves on the advisory board of Jefferson University Public Health Program and is an editor for Population Health Management. He received a master’s degree in health administration from The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Miami University.
